Sea*A, Angela, STEREOPONY and KOTOKO indulge fans in a concert brimming with Anisong goodness.
Going into the second day of the Anisong Super Stage at Anime Festival Asia Indonesia 2012, the fans of anime soundtracks and J-music once again came and filled up the B Hall. The queue to enter the hall could already be seen since afternoon, everyone's intention none other than to see the closing artists for this festival put up their best performances.
Sea*A
Sea*A opened the second day of the Anisong Super Stage with an energetic and cute performance. This four-member idol group looked sweet wearing uniforms combined with black vests and red skirts. Delicious became the first song to be performed by them and they successfully lifted the fans' spirits with their childish and cheerful melodies.
In the middle of their stage action, Sea*A also took the time to convey their feelings about performing in front of the Indonesian society for the first time before continuing with a song titled Arashi no you ni, which was also the soundtrack from an anime movie of the same name.
After that, Bery, Estelle, Valerie and Wynnie closed their first appearance in Indonesia with their debut single, Dream Shooter. Before leaving the stage, Wynnie also told the audience about the upcoming audition for Sea*A’s new personnel.
Angela
After Sea*A’s performance, Angela immediately rocked the stage with an all-out performance. The vocalist, Atsuko, made a beautiful entrance with a red outfit that matched Katsu's costume.
This duo, popular among anime fans as soundtrack performers, played their hits wonderfully. Atsuko and Katsu also made the audience laugh when they tried to speak some lines in the Indonesian language—the guitarist even teased some of the audience by throwing the word "beautiful" to them.
In the middle of their performance, Atsuko told the audience about a new anime titled "K" that would be released in October, for which they sang one of the theme songs. This information was followed by the single KINGS, a song with a gentle intro, but later followed by the typical beats of the anime, stealing the audience’s attention at once. The atmosphere kept getting more rowdy when Atsuko strummed her microphone stand like a guitar.
The next song played by the duo was the ending theme from an anime titled "Soukyuu no Vavner," which was accompanied by soft piano play in the intro and red and orange lights in the background.
Once they finished playing the song, Atsuko and Katsu interacted again with the audience. Atsuko teased them by singing a line from Anna ni Issho datta no ni, a popular "Gundam Seed" ending song, drawing applause from the audience. Angela then closed their performance in Anisong with a legendary song among the anime lovers, Zankoku na tenshi no Thesis, which was the OST from legendary anime "Evangelion."
STEREOPONY
After Angela left the stage, it was STEREOPONY’s turn to perform. This all-girl band, including one additional player, immediately received vigorous enthusiasm from their loyal fans who had been waiting. They opened their performance by playing an instrument before one by one, the band members came on stage, each dressed in a blackish costume.
STEREOPONY presented 12 songs in this Anisong concert, and one of them was Stand by Me, "Eureka 7"’s soundtrack. When this song was played, the vocalist Aimi showed her skills as lead guitarist while the screen beside the stage showed some footage from "Eureka 7." Namida no mukou was also anticipated by the audience and all the fans seemed to melt when Aimi sang this song. When bassist Nohana played her short solo, the audience broke into uproarious applause.
That night, STEREOPONY also sang their song Chiisana mahou, a song from the anime "Letter Bee Reverse," as well as a song that was composed by the famous soloist YUI, rocking the audience.
KOTOKO
As the closing act for the Anisong Super Stage that night, KOTOKO appeared after quite a long wait. The artist, who is famous as a soundtrack singer for many anime, appeared in a stunning green and black costume.
KOTOKO performed several of her songs which have been used as the theme songs from well-known anime, among them Light My Fire, which was the soundtrack of "Shakugan no Shana." The performance of this song absolutely rocked the anime fans there who jumped and swung their light sticks, following the rhythm.
The song Shooting Star, which was the ending theme of "Onegai Teacher," was also greatly anticipated by fans. Even though she was a little unwell the day before, KOTOKO performed brilliantly throughout the song.
KOTOKO also spoilt the audience by performing a few encore songs and the second day of the Anisong concert ended with an announcement that AFA Singapore would be soon held, following AFA Indonesia. Among the artists in the line up were Baby Metal, May’n, T.M. Revolution and FLOW.
After that, the night closed with the promised autograph session by STEREOPONY for every fan who had purchased their official Indonesian CD album. All the shows in AFA Indonesia 2012 definitely met with huge success, attracting massive numbers of people not only from Indonesia, but also from overseas. The fans who went home with satisfied looks on their faces indeed hoped there would be more events like this in Indonesia in the upcoming years on a regular basis.
