Ever wonder what songs musicians like TRF or Do As Infinity debuted with? The answer with lies within the sampler 1st~Debut single collection~. Avex made this collection in 2007, and it features only the first debut singles of well-known artists like hitomi, BoA and AAA. On top of that, the songs are arranged in chronological order, giving you a trip through time.

The collection starts with the Eurodance classic GOING 2 DANCE, released back in 1993 by TRF. The track is composed by their former producer Komuro Tetsuya and is suspenseful and dreamy to hear. In the same year, m.c.A-T’s Bomb A Head! came out. Though covered by AAA fourteen years later, the original is very witty and dynamic. hitomi and her leisurely, dreamy, almost kitschy Let’s Play Winter then takes the scene, and following up are three acts born in 1995: girl group MAX, with their version of Saturday Night, doesn’t do justice to the original and makes the song feel more chaotic than rousing; Komuro Tetsuya’s band globe delivers their playful debut Feel Like dance; and Aikawa Nanase presents her rock styled Yumemiru shoujo ja irarenai, which was covered some years later by dream.

With a fast dance beat, a mysterious accent and rolling guitars, Every Little Thing brings the song they put out in 1996. This one is followed by the summery, light and ballad-like rap song Feelin’ Good ~It’s PARADISE~ by DA PUMP. The debut of Do As Infinity is a pure acoustic ballad with a longing refrain and a fascinating electric guitar solo. In 2000, the Korean artist BoA took the stage in Japan with ID;Peace B, and her debut can be described as extremely rousing and atmospheric.

The happy catchy gem faraway from day after tomorrow comes right before boy group Tohoshinki's second Korean export. The boys present a summer hit with Latin charm. In 2005, ROAD OF MAJOR launched a song with power: their fast rock tune Taisetsu na mono, and it sounds just as good now as it did then. At the same time, AAA was making their mark in the music industry, and even today the debut release of the octet is fascinating. BLOOD on FIRE is still a fast, catchy tune that invites you to listen to it over and over again.

The fourteen tracks are an impressive selection of debut singles from different musical ages and genres. Unfortunately, the balance sometimes begins to waver due to the chronological order, but it's easy to overlook this because of the wealth of songs. The booklet charms with the lyrics and some fan opinions of the singles. Furthermore, 1st~Debut single collection~ offers another convincing advantage, and that is the low price of 1,890 yen!
