A recent Leespr agency marketing research survey conducted amongst Koreans has found that for the first half of 2009, Big Bang and So Nyuh Shi Dae are considered to have been the most popular singers. Big Bang was ranked number one above Rain, Dong Bang Shin Ki, Super Junior and Lee Moon Sae, as well as SS501, Jo Yong Pil, Lee Seung Chul, Kim Gun Mo and SG Wannabe.
Amongst the female artists, So Nyuh Shi Dae ranked above Wonder Girls, Lee Hyori, Jang Yoon Jeong, Baek Ji Young, Kara, Son Dambi, Davichi, with BoA ranking a surprising ninth in the top ten.
Although Big Bang and So Nyuh Shi Dae may have been the most popular for the first half of the year, the second half of the year will see several newcomers making their mark on the scene, as well as comebacks from some top stars.
