Yoon Kye-sang speaks out on his acting career

Yoon Kye-sang and his acting career

Yoon Kye-sang of god spoke out on his love for acting.

It has been about 6 years since his acting career kicked off. In 2004 with 'Flying Boys' he stood as a lost twenty something boy to now a mature guy in his thirties. He has left the shine of an idol behind and chose to become an actor.

Some supported and the others ignored him. All these helped him mature through out his career as evident in his works.

'Crazy For You' was the first drama after he finished serving in the obligatory military. 'Lovers of 6 years' was more like a reflecting stage.

'Beastie Boys' he chose because he wanted to change to something else. Through out the piece, he matured and matured.

On 5th November, 'The executor' is released and the audience would be able to witness more mature Yoon Kye-sang. After a long time of doing nothing much, he chose to be an executor. He played a guy with a rather dark and poor history who goes through a change as an executor.

This is an interview from Daum:
Q. You have been playing rather dark and depressed characters for a while then to a bright character. So how come you chose to do a serious and dark role again.
A. Depressed and serious works are more attractive. I like the genre with matureness and drama. After choosing to take part in the series 'Triple' there was time time left before starting the shoot. Then I realised I wanted to do something I liked.

Q. What attracted you the most.
A. The scenario was good but more than anything, the actor, Jo Jae-hyun. I loved 'Bad boy' and 'A crocodile'. At first I wondered if I could pull it off because I could not act if it is unimaginable. I feel that it is more appropriate for my age.

Q. You looked pretty natural there.
A. I promised one thing with the director. To empty my heart. To not to study and know things. I was terrified. If things are not organised I tend to get frightened which made me stay put at the film studio 24 hours. There were not much script at the prison cell scene, most were reactions that I had to see how other actors were performing.

Q. What have you learned?
A. Reactions (laugh). I have been a fast acting communication skill especially because in Drama series, that is essential. However, through out this piece I have learnt to have more space. Straight after filming, I took part in 'Triple' and sincerely realised that I have more space than before.

Q. So have you matured just like your work.
A. More or less. I have a lot on my mind recently especially on my life and acting career. Though I like the growing up genre but at the same time I feel this should be my last. This seems to be my turning point. Maybe that is why I chose this piece.

Q. Your worries seem be reflected upon your work.
A. Yes, whatever was on my mind I chose the piece accordingly. 'Crazy for you' and 'Lover for 6 years' was when I had the worst heartache because of love. 'Beastie boys' because I felt I had to show something as an actor. Although it was a shame that 40 minutes were deleted. When I chose pieces without a meaning, all there was left was pain. Also why I did not choose any work until 'Triple for 8 months.

Q. 'Triple' did not necessarily have a successful outcome either.
A. I though it would at the time (laugh). I was not the main character and felt 'it is the end for me'. But then Lee Yoon-jung PD asked 'What is your strong point'. At the time I said the bright personality and so on but then I realised this was not for me. I asked myself what I could do best, what did I look like in the beginning like during 'Flying Boys' days. These reasons probably triggered me to take part in 'The Executor'.

Q. You seemed to have made a run for it once you chose acting. Is the passion still the same as your 'Flying Boys' time?
A. Ofcourse but with a direction. Back then I just ran for it and wanted things to move on fast. Through out the acting career I learnt more depth to acting. None the less I am confident. I believe in myself as an actor and as me. I am still crazy about acting.

Q. You must have had a lot of thoughts on execution regulations.
A. To be honest I did not. This piece however made me think a lot about it. Back in the early god days when we were hungry, I once killed a rabbit with my own hands. I did it out of frustration of pain. Though I could not forget the feeling from the tip of my fingers...I killed a life...I object to all execution regulations.

Q. What have you gained and lost through out the acting career.
A. I lost fame but found my free soul. I gained confidence about my life.

Q. It has been 6 years since your first acting career. There must have been hard times and temptation to return to who you were before.
A. There have been big incidents and times I thought I was going to die. Though after they have passed, I could talk about them and smile just like now. That is life and the reason for acting.

Q. The works you are recognised for are usually of your preferred genre. That is an evidence that your stereo typical image is slowly being removed from the audience.
A. People do not ask about god days often as before. They ask about films. I think they begin to see me as an actor now. Which makes me think a lot about the next piece. What should I do, it is rather confusing. Maybe this state would drive me to do a similar one? If I choose a romance, does that mean I have already begun a new love? I am not sure myself.
