About JaME

JaME is a multi-lingual website dedicated to promoting all types of contemporary Japanese music primarily to an American and European audience. “JaME” stands for “Japanese Music Entertainment”. JaME's principal tool for this task is our website, jame-world.com

The JaME team is entirely made up of volunteers with a strong passion for Japanese music. We support Japanese artists and their managements as well as assist them to export their music to a wider audience. We aim to form firm partnerships so that we can improve the understanding of our mutual goals, hopes and concerns. JaME is fully aware of the differences and modes of operation that exist between different countries and continents. Therefore, we work hard to ensure that we respect and can accommodate the requirements of those we work with.

Additionally, JaME is active as a service which promotes and supports activities throughout Europe and America that are connected with Japanese music.

The Origin of JaME

JaME evolved from JrockFrance.com that began in 1999 alongside the visual kei fanzine “PROTOTYPE”. In 2001, the website took over from the fanzine and began to expand, before merging with www.jpopfrance.com. Due to its popularity and rapid growth, a joint project involving contributors from France, Italy, Poland and Germany was started in 2003. The first incarnation of JmusicEuropa.com was born.

The expanded association, JaME, was formed in 2004. The purpose of JaME was to promote Japanese contemporary music through the development and creation of various media forms related to Japanese music. JaME also aimed to make links with Japanese artists to organise/co-organise concerts in Europe. This in turn led to JaME providing connections between Japanese artists and European promoters/distributors to assist with concert organisation and/or sponsorship as well as distribute Japanese music throughout Europe. In 2005, JaME increased its activities from Europe to the Americas.

JaME Today

JaME's content is currently available in the following languages: English, Finnish, French, German, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. Every month, the website welcomes 25,000-30,000 visitors in total across all country versions for a total of 80,000-120,000 pageviews. The multi-lingual aspect of JaME is a commitment of our belief in the importance of making information about Japanese music accessible to all.

Why rely JaME?

It is essential to understand that the JaME team is made up of volunteers with a strong passion for Japanese music. The core of JaME revolves around the ever-expanding development of the Japanese music scene within Europe and America. From 1999 onwards, the scene has been growing and inspiring people to learn about Japanese music, and in turn builds a mentality of spreading Japanese music even further. It is this energy which powers the enthusiasm of those who work with and for JaME. JaME has passed all expectations of its original inception as a fan site to reach a high level of quality.

JaME has always been and will always be a tool at the disposal of the fans, associations, communities and artists to develop and expand. Personal projects about Japanese music using JaME are welcomed and encouraged. The scope of JaME is only as limited as the imagination of those who use it.

Advertising JaME is not a company per se but we do however incorporate advertisements to keep our website running. Income from advertisements is only used for the maintenance and improvement of our website itself. None of our team members, including our managers, receive any salary for their work on JaME.
