Having a musical career well before the time of dibs, vocalist Rika crafted his new band to be one that would change the sound of Japanese punk as the country knew it. Rocking his plans with bassist Yasui Yoshihiro and drummer Tange Shinya, the band dibs was born.

Their first year started off slow, with only two performances between Nagoya and Tokyo. However, once the trio got started, they quickly became an unstoppable machine, hitting the recording studios in 2002 to produce two singles and a live DVD, before going on five nationwide tours, the third of which had 34 stops alone.

dibs released their first album, STINKY in 2003 and participated in a various artists CD. Their spring tour, YOU STINKY!! STINKY!! STINKY!! ran them until the end of March, but the band picked their instruments back up in June, playing through the summer. Despite the success dibs had been accumulating, both Yasui and Tange and their one-year drummer Tohru departed from the band that year, leaving dibs a one-man show.

Despite this problem, Rika quickly found replacements, with Matsuura Hiroshi and Oomomo Toshiki joining the band. With members back in place, 2004 became an equally busy year for the band. dibs played three tours that spanned the majority of the year while releasing a new maxi single and demo tape. However, the year was not without more hardships and by winter, their new guitarist had left, leaving another gap in the line-up. He was luckily soon replaced by Watanabe HAJIME, making up the current line-up today.

For the next three years, dibs did not have any new releases and focused solely on live performances. Rarely a month would go by before fans were graced with the band's presence. However, by 2008, fans saw the debut of DISCORD and a live DVD. The band continued their heavy live schedule right into 2009 which quickly ran straight into 2010, even with the change in line-up, when bassist Haruka Katou joined the band in March. The trio has not taken a break from live performances for even a single month in two years.

dibs has not announced their plans for 2011, but fans can anticipate another heavy live schedule. Hopefully, the band will also hit the recording studio this year. Keep an eye on these guys, as they don't stop moving!
