EllDorado was formed in 1999 under the name ElDorado. The members were KAEDE (Yuuki), Ruli, Yuu, Shunsuke and SHOKI. Their first live was on November 10th. The band started out by releasing 3 demos that were heavier visual rock. The minialbum EGOISM was released on March 21st, 2001.
After the band managed to sign with Tristar, they presented their new musical style, a style that was lighter and more romantic.
ElDorado went through many changes in the autumn of 2001: Ruli left the band and tetora joined as the new guitarist. Their newly released album, AULA, was a success despite fears. After that KAEDE changed his name to Yuuki and tetora to TOMO.
January 29th was the release day of their first DVD, Venus. In between the songs it included a lot of additional off-stage material in order to promote the band the best way possible.
The minialbum BIRTH continued in this new direction and this time the band was sent to France to record new PVs. The record company promoted the band a lot, which is not very usual for smaller acts but ElDorado's skills were trusted. Their trip to Paris was used for filming material for their next DVD, Video Birth, and releasing a photo book called BIRTH in Paris.
UraDorado was, like it's name implies, ElDorado's other side, the more amusing alter-ego.
Other interesting releases include a special box with CD, fragrance and more. It was released on the 21st of December 2002. The idea of a box was used again on the 26th of March 2003; its most important offerings were a CD and a concert-DVD.
In 2003, ElDorado was tired of searching for their final breakthrough and they decided to return to their roots. In order to symbolize the change, the band's name was changed to EllDorado. Their logo also went through a huge improvement. The DVD Ekiribako was the first official material from the new style. Next to PVs, it also contained live footage. Because of this the album FLYING DRAGON was very highly anticipated by the fans. When it came out it raised different opinions: some didn't enjoy the record's consciously raw, demo-like sound.
EllDorado met trouble in the year 2004. Single releases were pushed back and the CD PUZZLE was cancelled completely. Their last concert was in August 2004, leaving behind a best of -release called FREEDOM.
Lucky for all the fans of the band, the musicians, who already had moved on to their new bands, played one more concert together on August 26th 2006, at HOLIDAY Shinjuku. At the same day they released another best of -collection, this time including a DVD as well.
After EllDorado:
Yuuki started the band Glamorous Honey with two ex-members of New Sodmy.
Yuu recently started the band Siva.
Tomo changed his name again and started the band CODE.
Shunsuke joined the band bis.
And it seems that Shoki isn't working in the music business at the moment.
