Vasalla

Vasalla started off in 1991 with the members Hideki on vocals and K-suke on drums, both of whom were previously in the group Steacy Roxx. They wished to create a new group from scratch and the beginning stages of Vasalla were initiated. K-Suke's younger brother, Shun, was also a guitarist so he was quickly recuited. Next, bassist Leaya joined followed by Sin (ex With Sexy). The first lineup of Vasalla was now complete.

This first incarnation of Vasalla released three demo tapes in 1992,all of which are near impossible to find nowadays. After not gaining too much recognition in their own town, they relocated to Tokyo and released the hard-edged and aggressive mini album Insanity. In 1996, their first full album Tsume ~Nail was released.

The band stayed pretty busy in 1997 and they released their first video and single Passage. The companion VHS, Passing Passage, was released shortly after and contained several video clips. Vasalla also participated in background vocals for Dir en grey's, Missa mini album.

After almost a year of silence, the mini album Aurora was released in May followed by Is not TRUE in November. Their melodies changed somewhat to something more calm, yet Vasalla still well retained the indies rock sound. Around this time, Vasalla also opened their own indies label, C/soon records.

An album was released in March of 1999 and contained several remastered versions of their earlier songs. After this, Shun decided to leave the band to form JILS with Yukiya (ex D=sire). Vasalla recruited Yuuki to replace him, and the new incarnation released a demo. However the peace did not last long, and soon, problems started plaguing the band once more, as Sin and Yuuki announced their intentions to leave the band. Without guitarists, it seemed as though the end for Vasalla was near, but as luck would have it, Hysteric Blame, another band in the indies scene, recently disbanded and both guitarists, Kaie and Rinne, joined the remaining members of Vasalla.

The band's luck appeared to change when producer Kaiki of Soleil labels discovered Vasalla, signing them to his label soon thereafter. Within months, they released the reincarnation series maxi singles: episode 1: DNA, episode 2: The NILE and episode 3: Alone.

It was soon discovered that Hideki would be required to undergo a throat operation which would prevent him from singing in the style Vasalla produced in the future. Because of this, Hideki expressed his desire to leave the music scene. K-Suke did not wish to continue on the band, as he created Vasalla with his best friend Hideki and felt the band should end.

Before the end, Vasalla had a few concerts with some of their friends from other bands rotating as vocalist. Their last concert took place on November 11th, 2000. Their final release was the clip VHS Reincarnation 0.
