k@mikaze was formed in the summer of 2001. The founding members were 8342 (ex- kannivalism) on bass, ARATA and HIROKI (both ex- SKULL) on guitar and drums respectively, and vocalist KIZUKI who was probably still involved with orivia, which disbanded at the end of August.

After participating in an omnibus, the first demo-tape of the band was released in December of 2001. The limit was set to 2000 tapes, but due to the popularity the band had gained already, a second press with yet another 2000 copies was released three days after a self-organized event in February of 2002. In the following months the band played several lives, including a free one-man. In April they released their first single in both a regular and a special version, with a total of 5000 CDs.

The band's popularity steadily increased so that by July their second single and most famous release, Respect baka was released. Another notable highlight of their career was their participation on one of the famous Shock Edge omnibuses, which came out in October.

At the end of November the bassist and drummer decided to leave, causing the band to go on hiatus. By the summer of 2005, the band revived briefly and played several lives, distributing a previously unreleased song at a handful of the shows. However, this activity was short lived, and the band has not performed together since.

After going on hiatus the members had very different careers. KIZUKI has ended his musical career. ARATA was involved in the bands GUICHE and YELLOW KING STAR but has been inactive since 2006. 8342 renamed himself yuchi and went major with his revived previous band kannivalism. More recently, HIROKI returned to the scene in 2008 with a new band called Elm, after being inactive for more than five years.
