It was at turn of the millennium, on January 29, 2000, that Yu and Hibiki joined to form a band. Within a few weeks they were joined by Tsuki and Isshi with Kaim joining by April. Thus, the band was complete, but a name had yet to be chosen. After much deliberation, PLASTIC was selected on May 25th.
The band's first big performance took place on July 17th when they had a chance to play at events alongside bands like Waive, Mystic Moon, Wyse, LSD and Face. The crowd's response was extremely positive, eventually leading to the release of their first demo tape, Heaven on Wheel, which was released on August 5th and was limited to only 100 copies. Early in 2001 the band released their second demo, Clash! Clash!! Clash!!!.
After two more demo tapes, the band finally released their first maxi-single, No Rule, in 2002. It sold very well for a new indie act and led to increased exposure and shows in Tokyo and Osaka as part of the band's ROCK N ROLL CIRCUS tour, most dates on which were sold out. Their next maxi-single, Just a Rock n Roller, fared even better and earned the band a spot at the ASIAN RUSH!! 2002 JAPAN SIDE event, where other popular indie bands performed for large outdoor crowds.
2003 saw the release of the band's first two mini-albums, as well as a few corresponding singles that succeeded in grabbing even more of Japan's attention. A year later, they once again participated in the ASIAN RUSH!! tour, this time playing for both Japanese and Chinese audiences. Those lucky enough to have seen these shows attest that PLASTIC stole the spotlight and made their presence felt throughout the tour.
As the summer of 2004 neared its end, the band performed a show entitled Café le PLASTIC at Café le Psyence, accompanied by bands such as Viper, Nana, SCLATCH, Never Crazy and azure. The event went rather well despite growing problems within the band.
Things eventually took their toll on Hibiki and he left the band soon afterward. At this point, the members revised their approach and decided to drop the aliases they were using and perform with their given names instead: Matsushita Akihiro, Ishii Masayuki, Mizuguchi Yuu and Tsukioka Yasutomo.
It was with these changes that PLASTIC released their long-awaited, self-titled debut on March 23, 2006. It sold extremely well and demonstrated that an indie band could go through line-up changes and self-revision and still release a quality product.
They released a new single, Boku ga dekiru koto, on September 6th and an album, sono saki ni mieru mono in November. While not much information is available regarding the band's activities between the release of their album and their disbandment, they called it quits in 2007. PLASTIC played its final live on July 15th at OSAKA MUSE before its members drifted off to play support for and become members of various other acts.
