aki

Solo artist aki's music can be best described as rock with plenty of electronic influences. After the disbandment of his band Laputa, he started a solo career.

aki grew up in Nagoya, where he met Tomoi, whom he played with in a few bands. He was a roadie for Kuroyume briefly, but after that, he seemed to decide to drop out of the music scene. Tomoi then contacted him and coaxed him into returning to the stage. Together, they formed the infamous Nagoya-kei band Laputa.

aki was the vocalist of Laputa for ten years, but after this long and successful period, they disbanded. Their last concert was in September 2004 at the Shibuya Kokaido (renamed the C.C. Lemon Hall).

Unsure of what he wanted to do after Laputa's disbandment, aki stayed quiet until his website was opened on his birthday, October 10th. A few months later, he started his fan club, Cesspit. After signing with Coxx Records, he released his first single, COME INTO CONFLICT.

His first solo concert took place on July 29th at Shibuya O-WEST. It was only for members of his fan club, and the concert was called aki official fan club cesspit convention #001. After that, he also participated in the Stylish wave ILLUSION’05 event on July 31st.

Since starting his solo career, aki has had a number of supporting musicians, including aie, former guitarist of deadman, Kuroyume bassist Hiroki, Moi dix mois drummer Tohru, and Kazutoshi Yokoyama, who was involved in the solo projects of various BUCK-TICK members.

Between 2006 and 2007, aki spent a good percentage of the year on the road, with the tours LIVE INTO CONFLICT 2006 and POWER OF RESONANCE - WEEKEND PARADISE - the following spring. He released two singles and an album in that time, and showed no signs of slowing down as he charged straight into 2008 with shows throughout the spring and a "best of" album released in August. October kicked off the brief Start from Zero tour, and he finished out the year with performances across Japan in December.

2009 was a packed year for aki, as he released two DVDs starting January first and held numerous LIVE at aki's BAR performances in the early spring. On April 26th, he officially began the 2009 LIVE UTOPIA tour, with nine stops mixed in with a handful of other event performances that year.

The 2010 INSPIRE tour started days later, running through the fall. He then jumped into his next tour, which wrapped up on December 26th with the THANKS 2010 show at Yokohama ARENA.
