Girotin was formed near Tokyo at the end of 1999 by Shinobu, Natsuki and Mai. All of them played together previously in a band called I've before starting Girotin. Mai was then known as Kenta. They were soon joined by ZERO and Kei, who had never played in a band before.
Their first live performance dates are unknown, as is the release date of their first demo tape, which could only be bought by mail order from an address in Tokyo. Their second and final demo tape was released on March 22, 2000. It was around this time that Kei disappeared from the band.
Most of Girotin's live shows took place at the Urawa Narciss, the Ikebukuro Cyber or the Takadanobaba AREA. They often shared the billing with more widely known bands, including Kagrra, d.p.s and Psycho le Cému.
In December, the first Hysteric Media Zone compilation CD was released. This omnibus was meant to promote different upcoming VK bands, including D'espairsRay. Each of the seven bands featured on the CD had two of their songs included. A concert to promote the release of the CD took place on December 17, 2000, where all bands participated.
Up until their last live on March 13, 2001 at Takadanobaba AREA, Girotin played at many events, including the obligatory New Year Tokyo club concerts where they played with Kagrra, Laissez Faire and De-ARK.
Whether Mai took part in this live or not isn't clear, because at this point he was probably already a member of As'REAL. Mai played together with As'REAL until their disbanding and took on his old name, Kenta, when he joined Shelly Trip Realize, later known as TINC until they also disbanded.
ZERO also stayed active in the music scene and was part of a lot of visual kei indie bands, amongst them GHOST. Currently, both he and Kenta are part of the band Hi:BRiD.
There is no further information about Shinobu and Natsuki as they decided after the break up of Girotin to end their musical careers.
