TAKUMA rose to fame from the line-up of the rock act Wyse, where he sang, played the bass and wrote most of the material. For such a musical person a solo career is more a matter of when than if, and even though the new material went in a calmer direction, the quality is as good as ever. After Wyse's farewell concert on February 13th, 2005, the band closed it's OHP on April 30th. TAKUMA tactfully opened his solo website on the 1st of May.
His career didn't really start until the fall of 2005. In September, the artist published his first song only on iTunes - the first live performance was held on the 25th of the same month at Shibuya O-West. Throughout he rest of the year, TAKUMA released a total of four songs on iTunes before he was ready to release his first album, Walk. The album wasn't sold in ordinary stores but was mainly available via the online store on his website.
As things progressed, a second album, My name is, came out in the fall of 2006. It managed to reach a much wider audience. In July 2007, TAKUMA turned to acoustic sounds and put out a mini album, if, to go with the theme. The release also came with a tour under the same name, which was recorded for a DVD release - as was his birthday live that year in November, where the artist also performed a couple of Wyse songs.
The future of this versatile and sensitive artist looks rather bright, with new tours and releases just around the corner.
