The story began in November 2004, when TAMAYO had Cyua as a guest vocalist on the recording of Ray'z Beyond, a song featured on ZUNTATA's Ray'z PREMIUM BOX -BEYOND- album. Named TAMAYO Featuring Cyua, that unit was the prototype of BETTA FLASH.
In October 2006 BETTA FLASH performed as an opening act for JUNO REACTOR at the Stellar Ball in Shinagawa, Tokyo. This show was their first live performance in front of an audience of 1,500 and unlike usual newcomers they won the applause of the whole house.
The duo thus played their first solo live performance in July 2007 at duo MUSIC EXCHANGE in Shibuya, Tokyo. Many fans showed up ensuring this first BETTA FLASH show was a success. On the same day, they played in front of 2,500 people at EXTRA, a huge game music event at AGEHA in Shinkiba, Tokyo. That, too, received great feedback on their unique performance.
Meanwhile, the duet recorded the ending theme song for TV anime "Nightwizard" in September of that same year. TAMAYO had also composed and produced material for the anime's background music. In October, they performed at the EXTRA -HYPER GAME MUSIC EVENT 2008- and appeared at the Enta Festival in Akihabara, Tokyo where they performed the anime ending theme, Erinyes. It was then released as a single in November to coincide with the opening of their website. In December BETTA FLASH appeared at the Christmas Fantasy event in Hakodate, Hokkaido.
In January 2009, BETTA FLASH performed at an event in Omotesandou. During this event, Cyua performed with Trio - The DS-10, who created music using only a Nintendo DS handheld game console and KORG DS-10 synthesizers.
During the summer of 2009, the duo performed at the popular French convention Japan Expo, which was the first time for them to perform in Europe. It seems that since then, things have quieted down a little bit around the pair. Cyua is also performing guest vocals for other artists occasionally.
BETTA FLASH is a young and entertaining duo among the current artists in Japan. Their sound is unique and fresh; definitely worth keeping an eye on.
