Tanimura Nana was born on September 10, 1987 in Sapporo. Due to the business relations of her father, she lived in Osaka and Hawaii from the age of three to eight as well as in Los Angeles. Her life in Hawaii and the fact that her parents were enthusiastic music listeners influenced Tanimura from a very early age. Aside from her growing enthusiasm for western music, she also took up piano lessons.

From the age of twelve, Tanimura dreamed of becoming a soul singer after attending a concert of Michael Jackson in Hawaii and listening to Christina Aguilera's self-titled album, both of which made a lasting impression on her.

Back in Japan, however,Tanimura's dream was put on hold as she focused on the entrance examination for high school. Once completed, she managed to juggle her studies and music. She sang a song of Aguilera's a capella at the spring event in her third year at Tezukayama High School and was talent spotted.

Shortly after her transition from high school to Aoyama Gakuin University, the first serious meetings regarding her musical debut were held. In May 2007 Tanimura Nana's first single Again, a heart-rending ballad, was released. With this debut, she showed an impressive talent for singing and a strong expressiveness. Just half a year later, her second single Say Good-bye followed. The music video made it to the top spot on the Yahoo! Douga Weekly Charts.

2008 saw her achieve first place amongst the most promising artists of the year on MSN's music site. In May, she held a special live on Odaiba Gakuen 2008 Bunkasai and a few weeks later her third single JUNGLE DANCE was released. This single left a strong, sexy impression and her name suddenly appeared on TV, radio and in several magazines. In the end Tanimura was awarded with the Nippon Record Daishou Award. In the summer months, she performed at the AGE FESTIVAL 2008 and many other events and festivals.

In the middle of 2009 Crazy For You was released and this release, like all the others before, was accompanied by an event campaign. At the end of May Tanimura performed as a guest performer on MTV Video Music Awards Japan. Once more, the summer months were filled with several festival performances and in the midst of it all every-body hit the market. She also participated in summer festivals and many environmental-themed events like DUNE'09 Earthclean.

Tanimura kicked off the year 2010 with her participation at LIVE SDD 2010 at Osaka-Jo Hall. At the beginning of March, she participated in more festivals on the 27th of the same month, just three days after the release of her seventh single FAR AWAY/Believe you, Tanimura graduated from Aoyama Gakuin University. In summer, she performed at several festivals once more but not until November her next single was released. She traveled throughout Japan to promote the new item and ended the year with her halftime show at the Japan national American football league JAPAN X BOWL on December 20 at the Tokyo Dome.

In 2011, she supported DA PUMP with her vocals in the recording studio, and two new songs were produced for the pop group. Tanimura released her first full album, titled NANA BEST, in August. The release was accompanied by a special event at Tokyo Tower Summer Garden. Subsequently she was in television and on various radio programs.

It seems as if Tanimura Nana took a little break until April 2012. Afterwards, she sang at THA DREAM FES. 2012 vol.1 alongside DA PUMP, BIG RON and JACK RABBITZ at CLUB CITTA' Kawasaki on the 8th of the month.
