the HIATUS

A rock band formed by Takeshi Hosomi after ELLEGARDEN entered an indefinite hiatus, the HIATUS is a serious, artistic group that allows Hosomi to explore a more mature, experimental style of music.

After the popular pop-punk band ELLEGARDEN announced they would be taking a break, singer and primary songwriter Takeshi Hosomi quickly re-emerged with a new band called the HIATUS. Joining him were masasucks from FULLSCRATCH on guitar, ex-thee michelle gun elephant and Radio Caroline bassist Koji Ueno, toe drummer Kashikura Takashi and keyboard player Horie Hirohisa from Neil & Iraiza.

The band’s first album, Trash We’d Love, was released on May 27, 2009. It went on to hit number one on the Oricon charts. Their first one-man tour, Ghost In The Rain Tour 2009, began on September 2nd at Zepp Tokyo. the HIATUS also appeared at many festivals and toured with STRAIGHTENER that year, attracting a dedicated following.

Many successful releases followed, most of which went on to hit the Oricon top ten.

In 2012, the HIATUS switched labels to NAYUTAWAVE RECORDS, a subdivision of Universal Music. They embarked on a short double-headline tour with British rock band Feeder in October, which had its final show in Osaka. A tour entitled The Afterglow Tour 2012 stretched from November to December and saw the band’s already impressive line up backed by thirteen other musicians, including cellists, violinists, flute players and more.
