Love Days (Regular Edition)

The Boss

The fourth and final installment of Korean group Daikoku Danji’s ‘Love' series is their single, Love Days. Written and produced by KiriP, Golden Bomber’s vocalist Kiryuuin Shou, the single offers a mixture of simple ballads and low-key pop but is sung in Japanese.

This release and the previous three in the 'Love' series are included on Daikoku Danji's new album, Love Letters, released January 18th, 2012.

On first listen, Love Days is undoubtedly cute. Light and bubbly, the track borrows the bounciness of popular J-pop idol work and combines it with the suave visuals of K-pop. Love Days is a nice balance between J-pop and K-pop — it really shows that music has no borders!

Love Days was used as the theme for the Japanese variety show, "Geinou★BANG."

The B-side, Taiyou ga noboru basho, focuses largely on the vocal line rather than a very prominent dance beat that is found in most K-pop. Each member sings their portion of the song, like almost all Korean pop groups.

Taiyou ga noboru basho borrows elements of conventional K-pop but combines it with the light, playfulness of J-pop. There is a distinct sound across the single that sounds very much like the sounds produced by the array of Johnny’s groups.

The regular edition of Love Days wraps up with Futari no sukina akane zora, a pleasant, easy-going ballad. The piano intro is very nice, but soon fades away as the song focuses more on the melody and the vocals.

The PV is pretty silly and lighthearted. Each member goes shopping at an American style supermarket (you can recognize the brands!) and they run around town while continuing to drop fruit as they journey home — all in preparation for Christmas. Once at home, they put up Christmas decorations in the living room. In each shot, the colours are very vivid and it is hard to tear your eyes away from watching.
