Returning with yet another groundbreaking music video, hip-hop idol group lyrical school are ready to entertain this summer with their latest digital single release, "Summer Foundation".
With a fresh summer sound and a new eye-catching music video under their belt, lyrical school — a six-member dance and rap unit from Japan — once again catch people's attention with Summer Foundation, their new digital single release courtesy of JPU Records that comes with two new songs — one a cover — two more remixes, as well as two instrumental tracks for your listening pleasure!
Following up on their last single RUN and RUN the six-member dance and rap unit have once again broke new ground with Summer Foundation's music video and its synchronised firework choreography, shot during the Aioi Peron Festival during the start of July 2016. With its roaming shots and crisp editing, the video is indeed an entertaining watch, as well as a perfect visual for the title track of this digital release.
The title song itself is an upbeat, easy-to-follow track that is not only fun to sing along to, but also a great listen. The most likable song of the four, its catchy tone and fast pace is sure to please all who listen. Along with its stunning video, Summer Foundation is definitely a stand out piece that fits the summer tone perfectly.
Following the title track is Kiss Me, a cover of EDU's song of the same name, a classic all the way from the "golden age" of Japanese hip-hop, and certainly a great show of lyrical school's talent as rappers. Though not as catchy as the title song, it is an enjoyable piece, and clearly shows the skill that these members have.
The final four tracks include two remixes, RUN and RUN (illreme remix), and lyrisch no uta (Dorian remix), as well as the instrumental versions of Summer Foundation and Kiss Me. First there is RUN and RUN (illreme remix), a remix of the group's major debut song — noticed for its unique, vertical-style music video in which the members "hacked" viewers' phones — is slower in pace than expected with its composition, yet faster in vocals. Though it might not be the most enticing song on the track list, it is indeed interesting, though its quiet, much slower instrumental leaves much to be desired when compared to its original sound. The second remixed track, lyrisch no uta (Dorian remix), on the other hand, is a rather pleasant piece, and rounds off the single quite well with its delightful use of sound effects. It might not catch your attention at first, but it certainly grows on the listener, and is rather entertaining in sound. Though a little different from its original form, the Dorian remix is a delightfully fresh take on a rather laid-back song.
With a good selection of songs to choose from, lyrical school's Summer Foundation is sure to bring joy to those wishing to listen. No track is like the other, yet each song perfectly fits the summer theme in its own unique way. It is an interesting release overall, and yet another great collection from lyrical school for all to enjoy.
