More Highlights from "utatsunagi", "StayHome" and Other COVID-19-related Hashtags

While Japanese musicians are unable to tour due to the effects of COVID-19, they've been finding other ways to stay connected with the fans and each other. In previous articles, we discussed the "utatsunagi" Twitter hashtag, which sees musicians post a short video of themselves performing and then tag another artist they'd like to see do the same, creating a chain. In April, we picked out 10 of our favourites, then another 16. Then we highlighted another 20 videos, including posts from similar hashtags like "rifftsunagi" and the more general "StayHome".

Since there are so many new posts being added each day and not everyone has the time to sift through all of their favourite artists' social media accounts, we've picked out 20 more that it would be a shame to miss. This batch includes lots of videos from "utatsunagi" Tweets, and also some special "StayHome" sessions bands have uploaded to YouTube. The artists, who range from pop stars to metal musicians, perform some of their own popular tracks in special arrangements, cover songs by others they enjoy, and even reveal brand new tracks they created to help lift everyone's spirits in this uncertain time.
