In 2003, visual kei group Vidoll made their first Christmas single, hitori kiri no chriXXmas. The single was released on Christmas day through Under Code Productions.
The single includes the title track, as well as an instrumental version. The title track, hitori kiri no chriXXmas is a nice, upbeat track, as expected from Vidoll. The song includes some of Jui's strongest vocals, with a powerful and emotional delivery, placed over very appropriate guitar work from Hide and Yukine. The guitars are sharp, but softer in the greater mix. The drums are low in the mix, and tumble nicely until the half-way point, where they take a higher position, with crashes banging loudly as the bassist, Rame, takes the spotlight. Later in the track, Jui is able to show off his falsetto.
The instrumental arrangement is nice for listeners interested in an intimate look at the instrumentals, without the distraction of vocals. This single is a shining gem in Vidoll's large discography, and still captures the holiday mood, five years later.
