The idea for KoME arose when the JaME (
http://www.jmusiceuropa.com) teammembers discovered that Korean music became more popular in the West. At the end of 2006 KoME was created and since then the teammembers have worked hard on the site.
For the visitors that already are familiar with JaME; a few things are different on KoME. In the biography of artists there might be parts about singles, which you won't find in their discography. This is because these aren't actual single releases, but the promotion songs of a CD. Some artists also release digital singles, which are generally contain one or two tracks and are available for download rather than being released on CD format, these can be found in the discographies. Concerning the romanization of Hangul, there are multiple systems, which are often used together. KoME deciced to use the
Revised Romanisation, which was determined in 2000 and to our understanding is the official romanization system in South Korea. KoME uses this system to romanise album titles, song names and the like, while keeping artist names as how the artist has chosen to romanise them.
If you'd like to get involved with KoME yourself there are several ways you can do this. Firstly, you can become a freelance writer for the site and submit your album, DVD and live reviews for use on the site (more information can be found
here). You can also help out by joining and contributing to the
forum or one of our communities on
myspace,
last.fm or
livejournal.
