The Yokohama based quartet plays eccentric rock based on melodic lines, reminiscent of Mr.Children, with rap vocals like that of Dragon Ash and Red Hot Chili Peppers. The band debuted in 2001 and has already gained major status by signing with EMI.

The name is a portmanteau of the English words “rad” and “wimp,” though the fans often shorten it to just “RAD.” A significant part of the band’s lyrics are written in English, as the vocalist and the main lyricist Noda Yojiro spent four years in the USA.
