CROSS VEIN are one of the many female-fronted metal bands who emerged in Japan during the 2000s.
Formed in late 2007 by producer Nancha and drummer Van-ry, a full line-up was assembled within months. However, by 2010, guitarist Yoshi was the only original member still standing. The band released their debut album Birth of Romance in 2012, and they made their major debut on Victor Entertainment two years later.
Though CROSS VEIN initially had no ties to visual kei, the combination of their quasi-symphonic power metal sound, twin-lead guitar setup and baroque stage garb have inevitably invited comparisons with visual metal heavyweights Versailles. Perhaps appropriately, they were once signed to guitarist HIZAKI's label zenorecords.
