Formed in Tokyo in 2008 by guitarist TORU and keyboardist HAYATO, TEARS OF TRAGEDY were part of a wave of female-fronted metal bands that swept Japan in the late 2000s. Frontwoman HARUKA joined in July of 2010.
Upon the release of their debut album ELUSIVE MOMENT in August 2011, TEARS OF TRAGEDY’s music and image reflected their name’s gothic overtones. However, subsequent albums have seen them move away from this. 2013’s Continuation of the Dream saw the group fully embrace melodic power metal, and in the run-up to 2016’s STATICE, they completely overhauled their image, ditching HARUKA’s frocks and the all-black dress code.
