zilch were an industrial rock band formed in 1996 by X JAPAN guitarist hide, with British guitarist Ray McVeigh and bassist Paul Raven. Originally conceived as a vehicle to launch hide's career internationally, these plans were scuppered by his untimely death, two months before their debut album 3,2,1's July 1998 release.
In 2001, McVeigh oversaw the production of the follow-up SKYJIN. The album featured guests such as J, Duff McKagan, Ian Astbury and Ol' Dirty Bastard. Following a tour of Japan, zilch ceased activities in 2002.
