Mate to perform at Japanese music festival

Rock band Mate will perform at a major Japanese music festival next month.

Their agency Gem Cultures announced the band have been invited to Japan's two-day Summer Sonic Festival 2010 being held simultaneously in Osaka and Tokyo on August 7th and 8th. Mate will perform in Osaka but it's not clear yet which stage they will be performing on.

An official from the festival said, "After watching Mate perform in Korea, we invited them because they have the possibility of making it big in Japan."

The trio will be the third Korean rock band after Seo Taiji in 2001 and quartet Nell in 2008 to take part in the event. Idol group Big Bang is also part of this year's line-up.
