MTV VMAJ 2016, the Japanese edition of the
MTV Video Music Awards, will be held in October. This will be the 15th anniversary edition of the event.
The winner in the
Best Video of the Year category will be chosen by MTV. However, fans can vote for 12 of the categories. All of them include Japanese artists and some international artists, and there are five sub-categories featuring international artists only.

There is also one additional category called
BEST TEEN CHOICE ARTIST. The award will be given to the artist who is the most popular among young people and voting will be open for the Japanese fans only. Nominated artists include:

SKY-HI and
Yasuda Rei.
Voting is open until September 30th, and the results will be revealed on October 3rd. The awards will be given out at
MTV VMAJ 2016 -THE PARTY!!-, an event that will take place on October 26th at Shinkiba Studio Coast. It will be hosted by the hip-hop group
RIP SLYME. Guest artists will also perform, but the line-up has yet to be announced.
