Rock band Kinoko Teikoku announced on May 27th that they have decided to pause their activities indefinitely.
In a message on their official website, the members revealed that this decision comes as a result of bassist Shigeaki Taniguchi expressing his desire to leave the band at the beginning of the year. They stated that after Kinoko Teikoku reached its 10th anniversary and Taniguchi reached the age of 30, he felt a sense of accomplishment and decided that it was a good time to try something new. In the end, he decided to leave the band in order to devote his full attention to his family's business and exploring fields outside of the music business that he has always wanted to pursue.
The remaining members considered finding a support bassist at first, but eventually decided that they could not imagine Kinoko Teikoku with any other bassist. Therefore, they have decided to put their activities as Kinoko Teikoku on hold indefinitely. This way, should Taniguchi ever decide he wants to play music again, his place in the band will still be waiting.
Kinoko Teikoku apologized for the sudden announcement, thanked the fans for all of their support until now and asked that they continue to support the members with their individual projects in the future.
