NiziU's Debut Single

Girl group NiziU will make their official debut with a single titled Step and a step on December 2nd.

The title track was written and produced by J.Y. Park, who is known both as an artist himself and for bringing many K-POP artists into the world. The song tells listeners it’s okay to be their selves and to move forward at their own pace. After hearing the song for the first time, the members are said to have broken into tears as they reminisced about the audition they went through. It’s said to be an up-tempo, cheerful song that bursts with positivity.

The single will feature four songs: the title track, Joyful, Sweet Bomb! and Make you happy.

Ahead of the release of the full single, the title track just got a preceding digital release today, and its music video has been revealed. Links to download and stream Step and a step are available here.

Picked out of 10,000 contestants, the members of NiziU survived a year-long audition program by Sony Music Japan and JYP Entertainment held in cities throughout Japan and Seoul. As their final mission in the audition they performed several original songs, which were eventually released this June 2020 as their "pre-debut" mini-album Make you happy. The music video for Make you happy has since exceeded 170 million views on YouTube and the song has racked up over 120 million streams.

They also have been confirmed to perform at the famous Japanese year-end Red and White Song Festival (Kohaku Uta Gassen), which will be aired on NHK on December 31st.
