GACKT Announces Suspension of All Activities

Singer and actor GACKT has been forced to put all professional activities on hold for an indefinite period of time, according to an announcement posted on his website earlier today.

According to the announcement, after returning to Japan on August 6th, GACKT reportedly told his management about his poor physical condition, which only worsened in the weeks that followed. He reports fainting several times, in addition to feeling generally unwell. He is said to be suffering from a neurological disease, which has not been named but is described as a chronic condition diagnosed in his childhood that recently progressed to the point of being life-threatening. 

GACKT's current condition is described as stable, but it was noted that he has lost almost 10 kilos. Knowing that he also suffers from dysphonia, a voice disorder that affects the acoustics of his singing, his medical team declared him temporarily unfit to pursue his musical ventures.

In a further statement available in English on his website, GACKT himself stated that he wants to focus on his recovery in order to return to the stage as soon as possible. He declared his strong conviction to the fans: "The promise I made to all of you, I'll definitely keep it. I'll bring you the album and the tour. I’ll always keep my promise no matter what. So please just wait a while longer."
