Rapper ¥ellow Bucks was arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession on November 17th.
He was arrested as part of a group of five men and women at a home in the Mizuho ward of the Aichi prefecture on suspicion of possessing a small amount of dried cannabis.
Born in 1996 and hailing from Takayama, Gifu prefecture, ¥ellow Bucks was announced as the winner of season 3 of "RAPSTAR Tanjou!", an audition show aiming to discover the next generation of Japanese rappers, in 2019. His popularity rose
dramatically after his appearance on the show, with the music video for Yessir, a track from his 2020 album Jungle, going on to rack up over 18 million views on YouTube. He just collaborated with pop/R&B singer AI on a track
called THE MOMENT this June.
His arrest follows that of Aichi prefecture-based rappers Playsson and 2Marley, who were caught with 35.94 grams of dried cannabis and 15.004 grams of liquid cannabis on November 4th and arrested on suspicion of possession with
intent to distribute. Playsson and ¥ellow Bucks have released a number of collaborations over the years, including a joint mini-album called CITY VIEW in 2018.
