While 2022 is not quite over yet, streaming platform Spotify recently unveiled its rankings for the most streamed artists, songs and albums of the year in Japan.
Globally, Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift and Drake took the top spots, but none of those artists made the top 10 in Japan. The country's leading artists on Spotify this year were nearly the same as the rankings from 2021. South Korean boy group BTS took first place, followed by Japanese pop groups Official HIGE DANdism and YOASOBI.
However, the most streamed song of the year was not performed by any of these artists. Singer-songwriter Tani Yuuki's W/X/Y came first in the song rankings, while another singer-songwriter, Yuuri, had three songs in the top 10, allowing his debut
album Ichi to take first place on the album chart.
