DER ZIBET, passed away on August 5th.
The singer, who was 61, reportedly died following an unspecified accident, according to
DER ZIBET's management. His funeral was held quietly among relatives.
ISSAY rose to prominence with
DER ZIBET in the mid-1980s. The band were mainstays of the visual kei scene until their hiatus in 1996. They reunited in 2007, and have been active ever since.
ISSAY's other projects included an intermittent solo career, which saw the release of the album
Flowers in 1994, and the supergroup
KA.F.KA in the mid-2010s.
